...both my AJ-10 and my Dot are stock...no modifications.... ....................that's the official answer........................... …now I want to let y’all in on a little secret that I have.... …on the weekends when my wife and daughter go shopping.... ...I take the pickguard off the Dot…I unscrew the retaining nut of the p/u selector switch…I have this black washer that I put on the switch…then screw the retaining nut back on…I take a framed Epi ad of John Lennon...playing Get Back up on the roof...out from behind the sofa and hang it on the rec-room wall.... …I set the Valvetronix to one of those God-forsaken overdrive settings at 60 watts…and for a brief moment I’m "JL on the roof"…I practice my weekly music lesson…if it’s Saturday…I practice Sunday’s folk music for church.... …then it’s over…all too soon.... …the washer comes off…the pickguard goes back on…the picture goes back behind the sofa…the amp goes back to its acoustic setting at 15 watts.... …then...they return from shopping…”hi dear…how’s your practice”…”fine…how was your shopping....” *gasp* how could you do such a thing? ;D or rather, who wouldn't when they have the house to themselves? As for jeje's comment, taking off the pickup covers shouldn't do too much, but moding them might, and could potentially mess something up, I dunno, never tried, just try not to break your pickups.

Heres my theory on pickup covers:
"If your guitar comes with covers, don't take them off. If your guitar doesnt come with covers, dont put them on."

I'll just leave the rest of the wax on I think the guitar looks more vintage without the covers.. love it

I just got my Standard Plus a couple of weeks ago and although I choose the one with the best sounding pups of the bunch, I wasn't really floored with the tone.
So I put in some SD 59s and that really opened this guitar up. I'm thinking about changing the bridge pup for a Pearly Gates but I'm going to wait for a while. A guitar this good deserves some good pups in it.
I just ordered a Bronze and a graphite nut I'd like to try and went ahead and ordered a pup switch as I've been told the stock will most likely fail at any time. Dan

Hi Guys
I can't believe the lengths some of you go to with mods/upgrades, how do you find the time. !!!
I was lucky with my Dot, I have gone completely crazy with her, I have changed the strap buttons to lockers !!
That's it....... and it's wonderful !!

do what you may. i m really not into changing much on my guitars. maybe knobs or pups. ive got a e series bully that i might put some gibby '57 pups on. but my vintage sg 400 is perfect. no mods needed. personal pref i guess

I don't know if I could resist the urge to tinker... the only thing that's kept me from my Gibby is the fact that I'd just be paying extra money that I originally paid to keep myself away from such projects! I'm planning on having at least three guitars to mess around on, probably more if I keep up on my Fender Mex mods (but she's my main girl, so I'm cautious). Maybe an Agile LP and a V of some sort... we'll see. Ty

Ol'Geezer put the black speed knob mod on Ol'Blue, and thats the only mod so far on either epi I own, but I plan to go with black tonepro hardware and black plastic to match plus Black grover tuners and black bone nut on Ol'Blue.
On Red my Special II. I want to go with Grover tuners for sure. And if I like the tonepro hardware I get from Chet for the Quilt, I will probably go with that on Red as well.
The only thing I think either one of them really need quality wise, is the tuners, and to be set up by a pro. The rest is all about what I think will look cool.
