BUT the thing is, now I still want a "real" Tele. Oh, absolutely!

I looked at the `72 Tele Thinline at House of Guitars in Rochester, Ash With the maple neck and fingerboard. It also happens to feel just right in my hands (but not in my wallet, yet) Jim

the funny story about my Tele is that I never bought her for over a year, but alsways trying her out and thinkng what a a great guitar.... but I could never really spare the big load of money for something I didn't really need and it didn't fit in my "plan" concerning gear acquisition, i didn't like the color either. Then they decided to get rid of it and dropped the price by half. I tried it again and almost decided to buy it but for some reason I still didn't. one day they tell me one of them dropped it by accident, or it fell or whatever, but other than little cut in the finish it was perfectly alright. Since I didn't like the finish anyway I didn't think anymore about it and took it for the price they asked which was about a third of list price and they gave me nice leather strap with it. now I even love the color.

Johannes, that's a great story. Things sometimes are meant to be and work out great in spite of ourselves. Thanks for sharing....

...House of Guitars....Rochester...NY......... ...even though I'm relatively new to music....guitars.....that name certainly brings back memories........... Their prices are a bit lower thatn everyone else`s, around $20-$30 on the Tele, but they won`t deal any more than that. They seem to have at least 1000 guitars, but other than the high-end Gibsons, they`re all crammed into the glass cases and the customers can just reach in to get what they want, scratches and nicks be damned! (Kind of like a "Guitar Hell")The Gibbys are in the same type of case, but they have locks on the case doors, and you have to have a salesperson assist you. No deals on those babies at all. They do have quite a few autographed axes from the many celebs who`ve stopped by when touring in this area, and lots of old historical guitars on display. Nice place to look around, but I don`t think I would buy from there, though. From here I would go to Stutzman`s Guitar Center only a stone`s throw from my house, www.stutzmansguitarcenter.com , Guitar Center, Crazy Daddy`s Junky Music Store, or a host of other shops. I bought my new Alvarez at Stutzman`s. Pretty well respected, well known music store, great prices, great service, very knowlegable staff, full service luthier.

JoMan, It`s said that good things come to those who wait. You have the proof in your Tele. Jim
