It has arrived! Since a few hours ago, I am the proud owner of a John Lennon 1965 Casino no. 1895! Don't ask me why it took so long, it was a looooong wait and it's a looooong story to tell, but now it's over... As many of you might know, it s my first kind of real expensive guitar, my first hollowbody and it absolutely blew me away.... I'll post some pictures of this beauty and a bit of a review or whatever later on... For now, I have business to get down to.... these are going to be very loud days for my family....

is that the revolution version you're holding in your hands? or a standard natural finish?

is that the revolution version you're holding in your hands? or a standard natural finish? It's a do-it-yourself Revolution ;D -- a regular-issue Casino in natural, with the pickguard removed.

probably as good as the "real" thing anyway! ;D i must admit iwas particular impressed with how easily i could get that "Revolution" sound on the casino (although mine is the 1965, ironically)
got any more hints from one casino man to another?

Well, John Lennon had the finish stripped from his 1965 to create what they're calling the Revolution model, but as far as I know no electronics were changed so the two reissues should only look different and sound close. I'd wanted one like his since seeing and hearing it on the rooftop in and throughout the "Let It Be" movie (which I saw the day it premiered in Hollywood). My older son got me the one you see pictured for my 50th birthday. As far as hints, it sounds wonderful through anything but I like it vintage clean -- be sure to try playing it through a VOX AC30 or a Fender Twin or Super Reverb amp. Oh... and you can't really turn hollowbodies up very far unless you like feedback....

...Geezer...........
...what about the single coil hum...........
...extra long cord to get away from the amp...that might solve the feedback issue too..............
...I've heard blowing a balloon up inside the f-hole breaks up the sound waves to prevent feedback..........

Well I'm an EpiFriend for sure, but I'm also a Fender fan from way back. That said, I'm quite used to putting up with single-coil hum! I have Strats and Teles as well as a P-90-equipped Gibson SG Classic and '56 GoldTop besides the Casino. A long cord could possibly cause hum in the worst case. I've found that how you face in relation to your amp (or computer monitor even) makes a big difference in the level of single-coil hum. I don't know that potential feedback is really a problem, and I doubt that a balloon would make much difference....

oh, so far i havent had much of a problem with feedback, it does occur, but i quite like it that way... and my first electric was a squier strat, so yes, i do know single coil hum....... ;D and about the change on lennon's guitar, i know its history, i was just joking because more or less the first thing i came across with my 1965 model was Revolution. Pics will be up today!
