Going on the bold assumption that most of us here don't play music for our main income, I was wondering what everyone does for a living now, what your favorite job so far is or was and other than being a famous and or highly paid musician, what your dream job would be?
I currently work for the City of Fort Worth as a sound and lighting tech with the title of Stagehand.
My favorite job fun wise, was the 6 years I worked at Billy Bob's Texas as a Stagehand, where I got into the field of sound and lighting. It didn't pay very well though.
My dream job would be to start my own stage production company and hire some really great techs that would make me wealthy and keep me up to date in the sound and light business. Either that or be the next Hugh Hefner. ;D

After being a taxidriver for 16 years I spent this last year in unemployment. Hopefully everything will turn out fine and I will start an occupational retraining as a elderly care nurse. What would be my dream job? Well I´d fancy a little and exclusive store of my own and sell carefully selected guitars.

I'm a Regional Director of Operations for a well known international company. With close to 900 employees on my team alone, the pay and benefits are good, the stress is unbelievable and bullshit level a fraction of an inch from my nose if I stand on my tippy toes.
If it weren't for my family and a hobby, I'd have been dead long ago. I used to build model cars but wanted something more challenging and creative so I picked up a guitar.
My dream job? I don't even know anymore but I do buy the occasional lottery ticket.

I have worked for 23 years in the television and video production business, with the last 12 years in my own business. I really love it, being creative and working on a different challenge almost every day.
I am working towards starting a local TV station in my area. That is my big dream at the moment.

I am currently a Police Officer on Long Island, New York and have been for the past 15 years. Before that I was a Correction Officer for the New York City Correction Dept. and worked on Riker's Island, and between those 2 jobs I also worked for the Nassau County Sheriff's Dept. When I am not working as a cop, my off time is spent with my family (wife and 2 kids), my guitars, NASCAR, Sports (Lets Go JETS!!) and also as a Volunteer Firefighter (where the ExCaptain comes from!) for the past 20 years. I have seen just about every type of disaster there is, including fire, accidents, death and even went to ground zero right after the WTC attack on 9/11.
My dream job is my RETIREMENT!!! which I can do in just 5 more years. (20 year retirement benefit) I think I will then relax awhile and then look for something part time maybe in the music field (Guitar Center Salesman!!!! HaHa) Who knows. But just getting to relax after working many years on an "around-the-clock schedule" will be enough! Thanks for listening! Have a safe and happy holiday season!

While I was working with a construction company in the Summer of 2002, the owner heard of a job opening at an Outdoor Education Center near where I live for a kitchen manager/cook. I have bunches of cooking experience, so I applied, and got it. I do everything to do with the place; ordering and cooking, and stocking, and cleaning and serving--the whole bit, and though I have several supervisors at various levels, no-one bothers me on a day to day basis. The best parts are that it is seasonal to the school year, so I get all the holidays, including three weeks for Christmas, off. I also get Summer vacation off. It's only four miles, and 1000 feet elevation difference from my house, and the ride is beautiful. Oh, yeah, it's salaried, so I don't have to count hours, and I get paid through the Summer. ;D I can't believe I got into such a job as this, and I'm very thankful to have one like this so close to home. Until the band hits and becomes the next big thing, I'm holding on to this one.

Full time college student here.
My apologies for posting almost never this semester. Studying has kept me way too busy, so when I actually have time to drop by the library and check some e-mail, I occasionally browse the forums to see what's new, but I haven't been around much at all lately.

Hey Guys...Have not been around alot lately but think of this forum often. When I do come around I usually lurk...not too much to say. Before the holidays I was pretty busy, built myself a Carvin kit guitar which came out great. Then I got sick for the entire holiday season, missed work, spent a couple of weeks in bed and did not play a guitar for a long time. Well, it's back to work tomorrow and I have been banging on the guitar for most of the day today! ;D I am an asst mgr in the retail food industry...not what I went to college for but it came along with the right money when the kids started coming so there I am. I hope to retire from this business to a 40 hour a week job someday soon! Cheers!

I've been i the electronics bussiness for 20+ years, for the last 8 years have been troubleshooting RF microwave radios, prior to that comsumers electronics, I first started playing at 12, at seventeen I joined the Marines and for 4 years did'nt play much, I'm married with we have 1 daughter who recently got married, now there's a little more time for my guitar, In looking back I'd love to be a studio musician, laying down tracks with some of the best, main influences are George Harrison, The Beatles and Elvis, still saving for that Gretsch Tennessean, maybe even a Ric 360/12. There's nothing that comes close to me thaan the early to mid Beatles, they're riffs were simple but rung true even today - Peace -
