Steel, if I'm following you correctly... G as in gold or as in the word good... yeah, over here in the States I've never heard it pronounced differently.

Here in Texas I have never heard Gibson pronounced wrong, but,,,,,,,, I was in a pawn shop and heard an uneducated, backwards acting person pronounce Les Paul, les paul like it was French for The Paul. You know like le or les pronounced lay and then Paul. I tried to correct him and explain that the guitar style was named after a man named Les Paul. But he argued some mindless non-fact that he had heard and I lost interest.

If I remember right the "man" was called Lester Polsfuss or something like that... you should have told the guy in the pawn shop... Höhöhö, lmfao, french pronunciation... ;D We often joke around with the Fender name here in Germany, lots of people like to say "7 ender"... because the "F" actually looks more like a "7" than an "F"

hrr, well, I've always said "lè paaaul", like its french But it's supposed to be "Less Paul", yeah? Gibson is straight forward, not like in "gibberish" or "jerk", but like in "Gilmour"? Hope I've got that one right at least

...hey guys.......
...if anyone can mispronounce the name "Gibson" it's got to be the people in the area where he was born...northern-most part of New York State...Chateaugay to be exact..........
...here's an example...50 miles WSW is a place called Madrid, NY...you all recognize it as the same name as the capital of Spain...but if you pronounce it like that to the locals...they'll look at you like you're from Mars...they pronounce it "Mad-drid"...same emphasis on the "a" as in "Madras"............
...I know because that's where my family hails from...one of the reasons I like Gibson-Epiphone..........
...by the way...LP's name was Lester William Polfus...he went by the by the name "Rhubarb Red" until he started accompanying Bing Crosby in NYC................

Now ya see there. I think we all just learned something. I never knew about the "Lester William Polfus" thing. I always thought the mans name was just plain ol "Les Paul". I love when I learn something without having to put my foot in my mouth first. ;D

these days, Gibson is pronounced: "law suit" Jackasses are litigating again. If you can't compete on price/quality, I guess you sue the competition into submission....

well, they hit PRS hard, next to Agile to force them to discontinue the Es-335 copy, then hitting Nelsonic with the "letter of death" that instantly got their LP design off their web site...
I hate Gibson's strategy with a passion, So much so that I WON"T be buying a new one, EVER!!! (well, until I get GAS bad enough for one... LOLBT)...
But I am pissed!
