We all knew that the flame tops had paper thin veneers on it, but at least the carved top was solid wood, not cardboard! No one would expect a solid flamed maple top in a price range below 1000 $, but a "solid" (hehe) cardboard top is a piece of impudence... I saw all the additional pics posted now on the official forum (saved them onto my HD, because I expect this thread to be deleted by the admins) and I changed my mind again... THIS IS AN EPIPHONE... 100%, and I expect good and reasonable explanations... but we have to be honest... the only excuse I would accept is that the Gibson company kicks the Saein people in their asses and sues the hell out of them and never lets them manufacture Epis again! This incident has put tremendous damage to both names: Gibson AND Epiphone! I am quite lucky that all my Epis (past and present) were see thru finishes except for the V´s I owned! Sad but true, I will never buy an Epiphone or Gibson no more! I don´t fancy the thought getting involved with betrayers. D'oh!  Please everybody take a look at all the additional picture links over on the official site... This is an Epiphone... *sigh*  |

If you can find a way to make Bush angry about this then maybe we can arange a good ol' American bombing ;D unfortunately I don't have a logical way to get passed this whole thing. |

Hey guys
Word is spreading like wildfire, I called a big retailer here in UK eralier today, won't give the name but I have bought lots from him and he advertises in every UK guitar mag, usually offers Gibsons and Epiphones at max 70% of list price and often lower. He told me that the pics and stories are really doing the rounds, he has had 4 people cancel Epi LP orders this morning alone !!!
So if Epi really are behind this then having sewn the seeds they are sure going to reap a very poor harvest !!!
Any response yet in German stores Steelpriest or in the US and Canada guys, give the stores a call and see what they say !!

It might be time for you to "Changed my mind again..." You're call though.
This whole thing may cause bad business for a week or so but I doubt many long term effects.

*sigh* ...my head is humming! ;D Well, obviously things turn out fine... the guitar was indeed counterfeit. None of us can prove it, on the other hand none of us can deny it. I am happy with the official reply and must say the following: Don´t judge a book by it´s cover, better read the whole story. I have been to quick with my suspicions when seeing the photographs, I must admit you can´t judge anything only by photographs.
