I'm considering changing the speaker in my MG15 when I get back to school this fall but I've never changed a speaker out so I don't really know any about this sort of thing . I've opened up the back before and I think that the wires are soldered to the mg speaker but seeing as there's only so much space on the plane ride back home the mg is in storage and I'm just playing on my brother's amp this summer. So If anyone else has this amp or a similar one or knows about replacing speakers feel free to drop some advice my way, thanks. BTW this is what I'm considering switching it to: www.tubedepot.com/sp-cel-super8.html

I take it this is a closed back model...similar to the AVT Series? If I'm not mistaken, Marshall says the speaker is a specially voiced model for the closed back. It may in fact already be a Celestion.

yeah, it's a closed back model, but I've gotten the impression that specially voiced or not, the speaker isn't so great and it seems like replacing it would be a good upgrade.

If you can get the back off, they are not that hard to change. If they glued the back on.. it's over.... but, if not, it might be as easy as 4 nuts and 2 wires.
In some cases you may have to take the grill off, but most of the time, it's just held on there with Velcro.

The back comes off easily enough, it's just held on by five screws, but there's something weird about the connection point if I remember right...
