This is a 50W combo tube-amp(yes?), 1x12" I just got a nice sounding offer on one.. It would be used for practicing with a band, no live playing Are they any good quality-wise? And whats the going price on these (used)?

The opinion you always or at least very often come across in talks with other guitarplayers that had both (or at least checked out) the JCM 800 and JCM 900 series is that the JCM 800 series was by far better than the JCM 900 series. I second that opinion. I even dare to say: Stay away from that JCM 900 stuff. The tone sucks somehow (thin, hollow, mushy, harsh), I even can´t describe it precisely, but there is something wrong about it... talk to others in person and hear what they say. Go for an JCM 800 or maybe one of the JCM 600 tube combos.

I googled around yesterday, and that seems to be the opinion.. too thin on the bottom-end, etc.. gotta love the internet when you can't test things in person

Well personally I love my JCM900. I suppose it depends on what sort of music you play, but people swear blind that I sound better through my rig than I do through a friends JCM2000 and 4X12....and I tend to agree.
