Hi everyone, it's been awhile since I posted, but anyway, here is my dumb question........... I just made an impulse buy today. I was in my local Guitar Center and saw the Marshall MG15DFX. I tried it and next thing I know I had one in my car going home (legally of course-I bought it!) It was just cheap enough for me to justify to myself that it was okay to buy it! When I tried it at home it sounded different, a little more "scratchy" in the distortion mode. Anyway, for the heck of it I took an extra cable and plugged it into the headphone out jack of the MG and sent it to the guitar input of my 20 year old Marshall 30 watt combo model 5010 amp. IT SOUNDED AWESOME!!!!!! WOW--- I couldn't believe what a difference it made. It made the old Marshall sound great. Like I had a stack in my room. MY QUESTION: Will this in any way harm either of my amps? I think it should be okay, but I was wondering if any of you out there know for sure.

Interesting question. I do have a VOX amp that you are supposed to do that with, except it has a special out jack. You might try asking the guys over at the Marshall Amp forum. www.marshallampforum.com/forum/

the only dumb question is the one you dont ask. i dont see any reason why it would. just think of back in the day when groups used to chain several marshall heads together. it wont hurt it imho. think of it as a pre amp. the 15 watt isnt going to overpower the 30 watt. its just like plugging your home stereo head phone jack into an amp. we used to do that all the time. it aint gonna hurt it. just be carefull to adjust the gain lower on one than the other or yuo'll get a sh!tty sound. just dont plug the 30 watt into the 15 watt. but is kind of like having a stack, so to speak. it is better to have 2 amps of the same watts. youll just geat a fuller sound.

I have to interfer here: Well you can try to plug in an headphone output into another amps guitar input, most likely you won´t cause any damage. Only make sure you don´t overpower the input too much. BUT NEVER EVER, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE TRY TO PLUG A SPEAKER OUTPUT INTO AN INPUT OF ANOTHER AMP!

Thanks for all the responses guys, like I said this site is the best. I didn't think I would hurt the amps but I wasn't sure. It's not something I will do all the time, but I like to mess around sometimes to try something different. Thanks again guys, you're the best!!!! Take care everyone and stay safe!
