Hey hey CA I was wondering where your LP Special was made. Smooth informed me that mine was made at the Sae Jung Korea factory because the s# starts with SJ*******. I just got a new Epi G-310. There's a "Made in China" sticker on it and a QC sticker with China listed on it too. Yet the Serial Number begins with SJ. Smooth? Anyone?

Ok let me get this right. So my Special II was made in Sae Jung Korea and the s# starts with SJ and had a made in Korea sticker on it. And Geezer's 310 was made in China but the s# also starts with SJ. Or what? Please explain it so my slow red neck mind gets it.
Now I'm Confused too.

NOOOOOOOOO! That just makes it worse! AAAAHHHHHHH!! I am about to not care where anything is made. Smooth help! It doesn't really matter to me where it comes from -- if it plays easily, sounds good, and stays in tune that's all I care about (and it's great on all three counts). I only wanted to be sure to give Steele the correct info for its Gallery post, and we're discovering some inconsistency in designation.

Well, I just managed to alter the information given in our gallery and FAQ section... okay, SJ = Sae Jung, but is Sae Jung a Chinese manufacturer or a korean one that also has a chinese plant? Would be nice to riddle this, before I give false information on our site. I am also confused now, hehe!

no need to be confused ... ;D well yeah, actually there is because Epiphone should publish a list showing where its factories are located and what serial numbers mean - since every message board that discusses Epis debates about this sort of thing and no one really knows the whole story

well there actually is a list at the plant. They frown on giving out specific info on vendor codes which is why i don't readily volunteer that kind of info. SJ is in China BTW.

Smooth wrote SJ is in fact "chinese". That is at least an answer...

Ok now I have a Chinese made Epiphone that came with a MADE IN KOREA sticker in 3 places. And now I know SJ is in China. And ..............?
Well I have to agree with ol Geezer, it just don't matter where it came from if it plays well and you like it.
When you are getting a quality product at such a low price I guess you can't be too concerned about its petigree or its national origen. I still love my Special II even though probly a billion chinese played it before I did. ;D

Zak sometimes necks and/or neckplates get changed for various reasons, could explain the sticker on your neck.

Thanks Smooth, I am not trying to make an issue out of this, but the third sticker was under the cavity cover on the back. I took it off to see if it was actualy made from mahogany or alder (looked dark like mahogany to me). Like I say I love the guitar and I am not going to put too much stock into where it was actualy made. But thanks again for your help.
