The main reason I got brown at the time was that it was 10 % but looking back, the red one that was the alternative looked, in the words of my sister "like dried blood." Some red fadeds look nice, but a lot of them look like crap. At any rate, I love my guitar.

Well, my mind may be failing me, but I had a friend who had a cherry SG that faded, and it seems to have faded to a brown color in a lot of the areas...
