I've always like the feel of a tele and was surfing ebay when I saw this. Its in perfect condition, came with a gig bag and strap with strap locks, and I got the whole thing with shipping for about $140. Its got two humbuckers. The sound is a bit muddy and not much range with the sound when you change from bridge to neck. All things that can be changed with a new set of pups. The thing I don't like is the small neck. It feels too thin at the top. Not sure I can get used to it. I'll play it for a few weeks and decide if I want to gut it or turn it around on ebay. I know I can get what I have into it. It does look nice though. All black with a maple board. If nothing else...I eased some G.A.S. pains for a bit and eased my curiousity of these axes. If I can find my camera I'll post some pics

i've seen so many squier guitars go through the shop where I used to buy my stuff and I now work at. I've made the experience that there are a lot of very good squiers, strats and teles and whatevers, but also as much dead guitars, you know, just a piece of dead wood with some polyurethane around it and rather poor electrics in it. Just last Saturday we got one that looked kinda like a double cut Les Paul and was just great. It was sold within an hour or two. By a Jazz guitarist. So there are a lot of Squiers that are well worth putting some money effort into. You'll get a great axe. A friend of mine has a Squier Tele with new pickups and a bone nut and it's a great guitar. All you need in a Tele.
But as I said, you really have to try and examine it before you buy it. It's certainly worth checking out.

yeah, I've seen some awesome Mexican guitars right out of the box. I have a Mexican Thinline '69 RI Tele in a pretty ugly Green that I got for less than half the price and it plays very fine.

As far as quality goes...the electronics seem flimsy and cheap, although they work. The pickups are dead sounding, no life in them and no range from neck to bridge. Body seems light (agathis body). Neck is a light satin finish that is nice, just too small for my big hands. If I were going to keep this I would end up stripping it to the bare bones. New pups, new switch and pots. Not sure its worth it. ;D besides....i just finished my partscaster....pics to come shortly. Think I'm going to turn this on ebay. At least I got to play one for awhile, although I'm sure a real fender custom would be much different.

I like Squiers a lot, but alas. I sold the last one this weekend.. Actually, I sold the last two.
That Craiglist works like a charm!

well..i did end up reselling it on ebay. I got what i paid and an extra $40. Actually..if the person buying it would have just gone to MF they could have gotten it with a warranty new for about $10 more. The only thing extra they got was the thin gig bag, strap and straplocks. I got to play a tele custom for a bit, learned I really don't care for agathis as a tonal wood and made a few bucks on the side. sweet ebay....gotta love it ;D
