I know this is going to make me sound even more stupid than I usually do but...on a vintage Gibby ES-125 is one supposed to use electric guitar strings or acoustic? When I got the guitar at 12 years old I didn't have an amp so I strung it with regular phos/bronz metal acoustic strings and have done so ever since.

Here is my simple answer:
I use Electric Strings on all my guitars.

Go with the electric strings. The pickups won't sense the string as well with the bronze strings, as bronze doen't affect the magnetic field like nickle and steel. They might sound better acoustically, but in the amp you will loose tone.

What a great feeling knowing I've been using the wrong strings on that guitar for the last 29 years LOL. Thanks! CAFeathers....electric strings on ALL your axes? Even pure acoustics? Is it because you have a soundhole pickup on them or just a preference?

Preference. I use a combination Dean Markley Flat Wound and Blue Steel strings on all my guitars. I like the feel and the tone.
