Well yesturday I made it across town to the GOOD guitar store and played a bunch of high-end USA made instruments from both gibson and fender that I dont usually have access to at the local guy.
Well I saw the SRV strat on the wall and it just screamed my name!! I walked over and the second I touched it I knew...It felt sooooo good...Its unplugged tones were blowing me away...so I finally got into a practice room with a marshall TSL half stack...plugged it in and TEXAS FLOOD!!! OMG this is by far, the BEST guitar I've ever played!! Im in love with this axe...
Heres the best part, Im going to bite the bullet and save for this or another similiar USA built guitar...Im buying my axe for life in June, so money will be no object this time....Gibson or Fender? It used to be a no brainer untill the SRV....

I agree with the get it now crowd! There may be something different about that one, you just don't know. If there is any way, even as little as 50 bucks just to drop down on that thing. Talk to the shop owner and spell it out for him. If he/she is a musician, they'll understand and there's a good chance they will take even the smallest payment just to keep it in the shop for you.

I was about to post regarding my new purchase, when I saw yours! I played this guitar two weeks ago and just like you, fell in love with it. The bass player that sold it to me had installed EMG pups in it but I was able to get the original Texas pups from another guy he sold them to. I really can't say enough good things about this guitar but I think you've already said it all. Here's a picture of mine. Today I replaced the SRV pickguard with a three ply plain black one and put the original into storage. I think I'll be buying a tortise shell pickguard for it and some aged, cream colored butons and pup covers too. Dan public.fotki.com/dgassie/guitarras/epitele__before_and/srv_sherry.html

Nice looking strat! What is that Epi there witht he fancy headstock inlay? Very nice looking!!!!
Also, judging by the picture, I guess you don't have any reservations about hanging the guitars from the headstock? I know music shops and countless others do it but I just can't bring myself to do that. When mine are not in use I prefer keeping them in the case or on a stand. Actually, I think I may replace all my stands with the kind that doesn't have the extension for the neck to rest into, just has the lower support and the thick rubber pad that supports the guitar in the upper portion of the back.

Natty; That Black one you liked is just a Epiphone Sheraton II that has had a few mods done to it.
I haven't noticed any problems from having my guitars hanging like that. Of course, they get dusty but I think it's worth it since I can just pull them down and play anytime. I guess stands are ok but I prefer the hanger. I think it keeps them since they can't be knocked over and aren't close to the floor

I haven't noticed any problems from having my guitars hanging like that. I've stated this before, but I've had a Les Paul hanging up for over five years with no noticeable changes, as well as a MIM Tele hanging for a year and a half now. I live near sea level, about five miles from the beach in Southern California, so the atmosphere here may have a lot to do with how well it works for me. I keep only a couple guitars out like that, though, with all the rest stored in hardshell cases stashed in closets.
