Has anyone here had much experience with Music Man guitars? I have played a used one or two in guitar stores, and I thought they were well made and sounded fine. But over at the Ernie Ball forum It seems that the Petrucci sig and the discontinued EVH guitars are highly saught after. Any thoughts on the subject?

No experience with Music Man guitars here, they are not very popular over here. Only the bass guitars have almost cult status. Our bassplayer has one from the late mid 70´s. Hehe, Zac... remember, Music Man was established by Leo Fender, later he established G&L, while Music Man was bought by Ernie Ball.

I always felt that they were kind of soulless affronts to the designs that they were based on. I'm definitely a guitar snob, which I try to keep in mind as I run my fingers, but I've kept them in the category as PRS in the excessively priced image guitar category. I prefer to keep my image guitars in the cheaper range, partly because I'm incredibly stingy, and partly because I can play just as well on a used MIM strat I paid $250 for (with a $40 Bill Lawrence pickup in the neck) as I could on an American strat. Differences in sound are definitely there, but they are to my liking. Plus, with a bit of compression, my Rat pedal, and Digitech amp modelling, I could get a similar sound out of my dad's $30 Hamer slammer. Ty
