Anyone have any experience with the Washburn Idol guitar? I tried one out last night and it seems pretty sweet. Two humbuckers, set neck, Grovers, and Buzz Feiten tuning system. Blue quilted top. It needed set up badly.
They have that tone control system on it, which they say allows you to go from a fat humbucker tone to single coil tones with the turn of the dial. I tried to tweak it all over the place, but it still seems like standard tone controls to me.

Hi Doug
The idol is an awesome piece of kit, in a recent review by "What Guitar" it destroyed 9 other contenders, including the EPI Les Paul Standard Plus. in the best solidbody under GBP 500 category
Whilst it does have a bit of a gothic look to it, believe me the damned thing has the most awesome capability, in the UK not only does it come with the Buzz Feiten system but it also have GENUINE Seymour Duncans, plus the tone system you mention.
I have tried them out about 6 times now, if I hadn't blown my dough on recent trip to US I'd be getting one, it'd cost around GBP 420 over here (over 700 USD) so the one you saw is a bargain.
Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat Chris would like a Washburn if Santa could sort that !!!
best regards Chris

Sorry Doug
Inflated the price in the UK, on checking it's actually available at around GBP 350.00 (about USD 600) so yours would still be a bargain !!

Chris- greetings from across the pond!
I love the Washburn Idol, but I think Santa is already bringing me a Epi Vintage SG. I like that one better, and its less money. The Idol may satisfy a future G.A.S. outbreak(my wife says "think again")..
I think the Idol you mentioned with the Seymours is the upper scale model Idol...theres that one, the one I saw, and a base model with a bolt on neck, no Grovers, and no Buzz Feiten, and stock open coils.
Speaking of the Feiten system, I noticed a difference with the Idol immediately.
