Hi guys, Ive gotta ask of everyones opinions here. Last night while at my local little guitar shop I saw a beauty American strat hss on the wall and didnt even pick it up thinking it would be worth thousands. I asked the guy anyways and he said $900 canadian!!! This thing is supposed to be used, maybe for like 2 hours. The guy said the guy who bought it, traded it in for a more expensive model. This thing is mint! I didnt play it cause the store was closing, but I am curious...
How does everyone like these things?? Do they sound and feel like a traditional strat? Please tell me they've got that strat quack. Btw, its 2 tone sunburst and its a beauty!!

I don't know the exchange rate up there, but it sounds like a good deal to me, having been a happy American-made Strat owner for 12 years now.
The difference is gonna be the humbucker in the tail, which effectivly eliminates the Clapton #2 position sound, as well as the bright bridge single tone. I don't know how Fender's humbuckers sound, but Seymor Duncan makes an F-spaced '59 trembucker, so if you don't like the stock one, it's easy enough to change, and if you go for the four conductor wiring, you can install a coil splitter switch and have the best of both worlds... I say to go for it ! ! ;D

I have a MIM Fat Strat (HSS configuration) and the stock humbucker sounds quite good to me -- it's the reason I bought the guitar! Kind of a cross between a Tele and a Strat tone, which is cool and unique. I don't know how the American version compares, but mine's a keeper. I don't like that the switching goes to a single-coil tap of it in the #2 position (bridge + middle pickups on), but maybe they were trying to keep it Clapton-like for Mandough . I also agree it sounds like a great deal.
