Hi all
A little advice needed here. I managed to get a set of 490/498 gibson pickups from an SG with the idea of putting them in my Epi LP standard. While the pickups are the same size (except the the thread on the height adjusting bracket is different) I have noticed that the pole pieces are further apart. I am assuming that this will seriously f**k up the sound output.
From some limited research 'in the other place' many of you have put gibson PuPs in your epiphones. Did you have the same problem?
Any help appreciated.

I put an old Dirty Finger in my Epiphone Les Paul Studio and the sound is amazing, I had no problems with a different width of the polepieces, but you don´t have to worry about that, I had a Seymour Duncan Trembucker in an Explorer, the polepiece width was made for a modern strat type guitar and a bit wider. The strings were not exactly over the polepieces, but as long as you have powerful pickups with strong magnets you don´t have to worry. I don´t know much about your 490/498 pickups, but I think they should be somewhat powerful also... by the way: are they open coils or those chrome plated ones?

Well, if you don´t mind the look of the strings being not exactly over the polepieces you can sleep safe and sound...
