UPDATE:............ I couldn't wait any longer, the bug got me right away!!! Last night I changed the tuners to diecast "keystone" tuners (had to drill out the headstock) and changed the pickup and wiring, putting in an EMG 81. I also changed the cream pickup ring to a black one so now it is all black. I must say, it sounds awsome. I really love the way it feels and plays. Now I can fool with it and leave my good guitars packed up and out of harms way. Best 89 bucks I ever spent. (the tuners and pickup I had in my parts box so there was no extra cost) Just had to pass this on. P.S. Just read that post regarding the Epi Les Paul Custom with the cardboard top!! oh boy, what does that mean to me??? For $89.00, I wonder what's under that beautiful black mirror finish of mine here? If they use cardboard on a LP Custom, I can only imagine what they used on my Junior here??? Should I worry? ?

Hey ExCaptain...I bought my Jr for the same reason as you, just wanted something to play around with that I did not have to worry about. I was pleasantly suprised by it's playability and sound when I got it and also think it is a great guitar for the bucks. Sounds like you have done some nice mods to yours. That is a creepy story about that cardboard topped LP isn't it? As far as the quality of the Jr materials...well, I am not worrying about it too much, I know it is a cheap guitar, I did not expect it to be made with any premium materials or hardware. I have little doubt that the body of the Jr is made of some sort of plywood or pressed wood material... I am a little worried about my LP Classic Quilt though

Congratulations ExCaptain for your nice purchase, hope you have as much fun as I have with my Apollo Les Cheaps. Hopefully your guitar is not made of high density toilet paper... lol ;D *just joking* Cheap guitars with surprising qualities are always fun and good objects for handicrafts. By the way: these Apollo guitars I have are non translucent silver, but you can slightly see that the top/body is put together of three pieces of solid wood, when you hold it in a specific angle to the light. Obviously no cap for the arched top, it is carved from one previosly glued together solid block of wood. The glue joints on top and back are in the same places.
