Hey Guys...just wanted to know if there are any other Lp Jr owners on the forum. If so maybe you would like to talk about any mods you have done to yours or how you like the Jr, etc. I also have an LP Classic but I play the Jr every day and the Classic just once in a while! Something about the sound of the Jr that I really like. Cheers!

A Les Paul Junior? Let me think... there were single and double cut models, both equipped with soapbar pickups... and if I remember it right both, the single cuts and double cuts, had a flat top, not an arched one... and all "Junior" models came only with a single pickup in the bridge position. If you ask me, those guitars were looking awful, but like any original Gibson they should have an amazing tone. But I won´t fancy one for my own...

Hey Steelpriest...nah, I don't have an old Gibson Jr , just an Epi model that I picked up from Music. Frnd. a year or two back . It is single cutaway but has a hummer in the bridge position not a soapbar. Is it pretty? Not really but it plays great, has one of the best necks I have ever played on. It is lighter than my LP Classic and is a bit more comfortable for me to play on due to the flat body that it has. The hummer is powerful, has a really nice growl to it and I play it every day as opposed to my Classic which I only play occasionally. The only thing I hate about it is the wraparound bridge that does not allow for complete intonation adjustment. However, thanks to CFeathers, this problem will soon cease to be an issue. I would jump at the chance to pick up an old Gibson Jr if I could find a good one though!!! But until then I am pretty happy with the Epi Jr that only cost $99.00!!! ;D Hey Samicksg...if you play an SG I am sure you would like the feel of a Jr too!

Yeah, they don't ship anywhere out of the US..bummer. I am sure you would have lots of fun with the Jr. Once I get my new bridge, I will have a bone nut put in and that is all the moifying that I will be doing to my Jr. Are there Guitar Centers ion Canada? I have seen the Epi LP Jrs in Guitar Centers more than once.

nah no guitar centers either. They're a branch of musicians friend or something. Our largest retailer, Long and Mcquade sometimes have them in. Next time I see one, I'll be sure to check it out

Yeah, check one out if you get the chance. They are actually just a stripped down single pickup Special II I guess. Although I treat all of my guitars carefully, it is great to have a guitar to play that I don't have to worry too much about. It allows me to loosen up a bit when I play. By the way, my brother has a really nice old Gibson SG circa 1968-69 and that is one sweet playing and sounding guitar!

My good friend owned a Gibson LP Junior single cut. It was not the prettiest thing in the room but it was very playable and had nice tone as well as a good overall feel. It was not a great guitar but it did not suck either.

Exclusively for Guitar Center... Maybe that´s why I never came across an Epiphone LP Junior here in Germany... I only knew about the Gibson ones, which are also not very popular over here.

Hey Guys...at least I am getting some posts on this thread now ;D I love the Jr both Epi and Gibson. Leslie West of "Mountain" used a Gibson Jr and got some very sweet sound from his! Like I said, I like the light weight, playability and I do not find them unattractive at all. Of course, I am not all that obsessive about a guitars looks if they sound good. Yes, I appreciate a beautiful instrument but I have played many an ugly guitar that played sweet and sounded even better! I guess I will be Jr fan forever!

I just have to add my 2 cents regarding the LP Special Junior. I just picked one up today in black from Guitar Center in Commack, NY for $89.00!!! I found the guitar on their web site advertised for $89.00 and when I showed them the printout they knocked off the $10.00 from their showroom price of $99.00. All I can say is Wow!!! It is a really great guitar for the price. I was very surprised at the quality of it and how resonant it sounded when strummed before hooking it up to an amp. Plugged in I was VERY IMPRESSED at the pickup on it. It sounds pretty hot for such a cheap guitar. Even the neck is pretty decent. All the frets are okay, but it was just the slightest bit thick for me but hey, I can't complain for the price! Eventually I will change the tuners and the pickup, but for now it is well worth the money for me to knock around with. I will be able to preserve my Gibson LP, my Epi LP and my G-400. This way I can fool around with it and not have to worry about leaving my expensive stuff laying around where my kids could accidently knock it over or something. I am very happy with my purchase.
