Back in 1999 Clapton auctioned off 100 of his guitars and about a week ago (June 24) he auctioned off another 56.
His famous "Blackie" strat and his 1964 cherry red Gibson ES-335 were both bought by the Guitar Center. The strat sold for $959,500 and the Gibson sold for $847,500. One of his acoustics sold for $791,500. The auction raised a total of $7.43 million for Clapton's Crossroads addiction clinic.
