Well, I got er early in the week and promptly took it in to the shop for a full setup. Worth Every penny spent. It plays like a dream...now for the review:
1) Fit and Finish: Gold top finish is perfect. Just enough sparkle and not any "vintage green hue". Headtstock is telecaster shaped and lightly stained. Chrome tone knobs.
2) Neck: Rosewood fretboard finished nicely with dot inlays. Jumbo frets level. Action set very low and is perfect. not buzz whatever. Has graphite nut.
3) Pickups: Cream Dimarzio Tonezone in Bridge and Dimarzio Air Norton in the neck. Outstanding!!! Check out the sound clips on Dimarzio's web site. The coil tapping feature adds some flexibility to the guitar in terms of range. Not exactly a tele, not exactly a les paul, not exactly an SG, not exactly a Fat Strat...Has it's own voice, although it speaks "les paul" quite well.
4) Body: Mahogony body and neck. Body is quite comfortable with the body contour. Wood grain is outstanding. Cream binding adds a sophisticated touch of class.
5) Misc: This guitar was available for a limited time on Musicians Friend at a blowout price of $399. The original retail price was $699 with a list price of around $1100.00. While this is a Korean made guitar, I have to give it a nod it terms of price/performance ratio over the American Standard Ash I just sold. I paid $450 with a Fender Gig Bag.
Final Ratings:
Tone: 9.0/10. It rocks, it's bluesy, it can get quacky. Can't imagine changing a thing on the guitar at all. No upgradeitus at all.
Value: 10
Best Guitar I have purchased, hands down. I plan on having it for a very long time....
