hi,
as stated in previous thread i am considering purchasing a SD invader for my Epi 67 flying V. I am in need of a good site which describes, with diagrams and such, how to change pickups. especially concerning humbuckers and epiphones.
Thanks for any help

I recommend to go to the DiMarzio website and see what pickups they have. They also have a nice site with wiring examples and precise descriptions concerning the color codes of their four conductor wires. Some wiring diagrams are also shown. www.dimarzio.com

thanks a lot a gain steelpriest.
I think im gunna give the invader a miss.
Do you think that a dimarzio super distortion would be more up my alley? Hows their clean tone?
and, just while Im here, did you get my email with pics of my les paul?
thanks
and sorry for all the question

Hmmm, no photographs so far in my email adress... when did you send them? The Super Distortion is, like his name already says, a distortion humbucker with high output and a lot of brilliance, but it all depends on taste. If you wanna have a real hot humbucker try the Tone Zone, I have one and it sounds lovely, if you want more mellow output try a PAF, Norton or Air Noton. With the right amp they can provide also nice hot sounds, but the distortion is more smooth and warm, not so harsh... The real hot pickups like Super Distortion, Dual Sound, Tone Zone are very dynamic and provide also with a clean amp setting some distortion when you play the guitar a little harder. If you are in need of real clean sounds from time to time I don´t recommend them. But again, it all depends on personal taste. Maybe a pal has guitar with an aftermarket pickup and you can check it out with your own amp, and again this will not be the sound you will get, there are too many variables that make the sound. To cut it short, both, DiMarzio and Seymour Duncan, are good manufacturers that supply a big variety of pickups. Only thing I suggest is try a pickup with not so hot output.

The SuperDistortion pickups are great. If you are looking for clean tones, I'd look elsewhere.
What kind of music are you playing?

Hey
steel priest, thanks again, I sent the pics about a week ago to epiguy@aol.com ?... mabey i need to try again?
reverboy, i play mainly metal and rock. For clean I would still have the Vs neck humbucker which does have quite a nice fat clean sound. Mabey the super distortion would be just for distortion.... how does it work with a stompbox...?
so, you think the dimarzios would be better than the invader (more suited to mahogany V at least)
thanks a lot
