;D HH I say, for me there is no need for singlecoils, but that´s just my opinion and my personal decision.

I chose HS tele because I think it really gives you the best of both worlds.

Oh and by the way, humbuckers and P-90s are interchangable... For me, its a PP guitar, gotta love it! Aaron

I just used Les paul as an example, it really means any dual humbucker guitar. That is suprising seeing TWO votes for a fat tele style guitar...I would have never considered that a popular combo! Aaron

sounds like a good combo to me, but of course most of the people on this board chose HH because that encompasses most Epis, and of course not many people use a single or triple humbucker setup. I am surprised, however, that no one has voted for the regular old strat design (maybe because not enough people have voted yet, but who knows).

Aaron Well, I missed my original '69 (customized with a Gibson PAF) so much I just recently re-created one in that style. Like I posted above, it sounds great with both pickups on at the same time. My guitar tech buddy who did the new mod (we used a Duncan '59 Humbucker) calls the resultant guitar godly!

My ears prefer the warmth of humbuckers, but the SSS combo has to be the most versatile outside of getting coil splitters on an HH guitar. The advantage of the single coils is clarity that can be distorted further. To get the single coil sound in a hummer hole, the P-94 is the one. One other thing I like about the SSS is that in #2 and #4 positions, with the middle PUP reverse polarity, you get hum cancellation. That gives you three single coils, and two humbuckers ! !
