I have one question. Hehehe, I noticed it is not only me that has quite a bunch of guitars. Is it only the desire to buy guitars and collect them or has the owning of a great variety of guitars a different background? Do you guys who own more than let´s say three guitars use this guitars definitely for different purposes? I mean a specific guitar for a specific song? I have divided our band´s program into three groups of songs and chose guitars for that particular songs. Of course I can play all those songs on each of the guitars, but I like this or that guitar better for some reasons on a song...

sorry for the simple question, but what does GAS stand for? I see it a lot on the board, but I don't know what it means... but I probably have it:)

IMHO,.....(and my 2 cents worth)
Epi-LP with humbuckers = a specific sound Fender Strat with single coils = a specific sound
Agreed, different type of pickups in a guitar will promote a different tone and sound.
Speaking for myself, and what research I have done, By owning a variety of guitars, (each with diff. pups), each will have its own distinct sound.
But ultimately, to answer the question, "what to do with so many guitars?"
You play em',...you admire em',...you listen to the different tones and sounds,...you experiment with em',...and basically,...HAVE FUN,...!!
Dats whut ya do,...!!
(or at least I would,......*WEG*)

For me, they're different tools I use to build my songs when composing or recording. Not only for their varying tonality, but I seem to play different types of guitars differently. I guess I'm not the only one -- I was showing a friend various guitars of mine, and as he played each it came out in a different style; I've also read similar comments in magazine articles....

I see it a lot on the board, but I don't know what it means... but I probably have it:) By the Way (BTW) GAS is Gear Acquisition Syndrome - it means you have the desire to buy new (and often better) stuff. IMO, you can have 3 different guitars each for a different style of playing/style of music (i.e. Les Paul with humbuckers, Strat with single coils, Hollowbody) considering the different combinations with humbuckers, single coils, and P90s, there's a lot of different sounds to strive for. Theres also so many different styles/shapes of guitars to choose from: Les Paul, Strat, Tele, SG, Flying V, Hollowbody (355)...those are the main ones anyway, and the less common ones: Explorer, firebird, hmm I'm sure there's more

I have different uses for different axes. I use the '56 gold top w/ P90s for some feel good classic rock and then use my SG for the more metal side of things ;D
