Looking up old photographs this morning I discoverd some nice pics from 1992 when I had my Hamer Vector. The Vector was an amazing Flying V, mine was with a honey flamed maple top, translucent red on back, sides and on the back of the neck, it had a DiMarzio X2N bridge pickup and I have very good memories of it. The funny story behind this was I sold the guitar somewhen in 1994. But I told our drummer about this guitar when we sat together over some cups of coffee, he was a guitarist also and always interested in guitar related stories. Suddenly one day he gave me a call saying he bought a Hamer Vector in a shop that looked exactly like mine, and he won´t keep it if it was mine I missed so much, he would re-sell it to me. And guess what? It was my guitar I sold years before. Well, I got back this guitar in 1999, after 5 years... at first I was very delighted, but then found out it was in not so good shape anymore, it required a complete re-fretting... hmm, what to do now? It was a difficult question, and I needed some bass gear at the time also. So I made a hard decision and gave it way again and traded it for a bass amplifier in a store. Well, that was the story... But I loved this guitar and I always loved Hamer guitars anyway, I also had a Hamer Prototype, you maybe know the one with that fullsize humbucker and one additional single coil in one single big pickup ring.... Recently, when I discovered that I miss my Gibson Spirit so badly, I made up my mind if I can´t find a Spirit I might buy a Hamer Standard which is very alike a Spirit/Les Paul DC. Anyone of you has experience with Hamer guitars? Wasn´t that Mr.Hamer an employee at the Gibson company in the past? Before he established his own manufacture? Hamer guitars kick some serious ass, I say! ;D
