i went in search for a 2004 fender american deluxe HSS (fat strat) today, and it came home with me ;D. I found the exact model that i was looking for, 3 tone burst with a rosewood fret board, ahhhh i love new guitar days. I even got to play it through an amp identical to mine for about 20 minutes , and was surprised at the tones i could get, crystal clean, molten glass blues, and the humbucker in the bridge even gives me a good hard rock edge, this is the most flexible guitar i have ever owned ;D. Finish and frets are perfect, it has sperzel locking tuners and a coil tap to split the pups. The perfect addition to my samick strat, and my EPI LP custom.

Sounds awesome man, I still have to try one of those strats. The coil tap sounds really cool

Oooh, American fat strat. I haven't played strats much at all but as much as I like the humbuckers on my LP, I'm sure that I'd like a strat like that.

OK its been a couple of days with the new strat now and it just keeps gettin better, still love the playability ( i seem much faster than on my LP ) I can get Stevie Ray on the neck pups, and i kid you not, Angus Young on the bridge pup. Not only to my ears but to my wife who also thought it sounded very "AC/DCish". The quest for more tones continues, and the urge to buy is still gone ( although i did spy a nice RR flying V ;D)
