I think I'm going to take your advice on just going ahead and getting the 820 and the goldtop. I was looking hard at the 820/p-90's. Still may at a later date get it if I really like the other two. Jeez. for $400 get two nice axes. The goldtop is a SOLID mahogany body. Not 2-3 pieces bound together. Plastic nut on it. But that can be changed easily. The 820 looks nice and is half the price of a dot. And you get a graphite nut, abalone inlays and body and neck binding. Incredible. The 820/p-90s, I can't think of anyone else making a hollowbody like that with a stopbar tailpiece. Real curious about that one too. Well I know where my tax return is going.....lol.

Hmmm, well... though it says solidbody I really doubt it is cut from one single piece of wood for that price. Most guitars are of at least two pieces, or three... and there´s nothing wrong with it. Solid body is to my knowledge a description of a guitar type, like hollowbody or semi-acoustic. Solid body doesn´t mean cut of one solid piece of wood... But let´s see as soon sa you have it in your hands. Don´t wanna heckle you sandman, ...but the funniest description I recently saw on Ebay was "solid plywood", hehehe. ;D

No sweat....lol. I can take the heat. I went back and read it again. It says " a solid mahogany (not multi-ply) archtop body. It probably does mean 2-3 mahogany pieces glued together. That's what my epi is but it's made of alder. Just have to wait and see. Still can't beat the price though. New toys....too cool

I have been seriously looking at the Epi LP Elitist line for a few weeks, thinking that was my next guitar. I had not even heard of Agile.
So, now I have been reading all I can find on it, and it looks like a great guitar. But what gets me is usually in the reviews, is a comment like "outstanding guitar... for $300."
Can someone tell me how an Agile LP 2800 or 3000 would stand against an Epi LP Elitist standard plus? If it truly comparable, I would like to save the $600.
Thanks for comments.

Well, The Elitist is certainly a very nice guitar. Fit and finish, I would give the Epiphone a nod. However, I do not think that the Elitist line is the best choice for purchase.
I had an Elite and I sold it when I bought my Agile 2800. There was not enough "difference" in tone to justify the increase in price. I would certianly reccommend the 3000 series. An Ebony fretboard and a slightly nicer set of appointments would definately put it in the ballpark.
I prefer the tone of the pickups I have in my 2800 over the pickups on the Elitist.
If you are going to spend 1100 for an Elitist, I'd say save another 100 and buy a slightly used Gibson Les Paul Classic.
My vote would be to get the Agile 3000 and give it a try. You have a 30 day MBG from Rondo and nothing to loose except shipping charges.

Riverboy/James -
Your arguments are very good.
I really thought I found the "real deal" for less $$ in the Elitist - but now a new contender appears.
Your advice to try it out is good. I guess I will keep watching the website for any 3000's. Thanks

oooh they look incredible compared to any other guitar in that price range. Those $60-$360 guitars are probably well worth it. I'd really like to play one some time to see how well it compares with its counterparts that look the same for $300 extra.

OK...surfing Rondo music yesterday and Kurt has some new toys on the way. Starting to drool over their 920 Cool Cat Prestige. It's like a Gibson L-5 with a bigsby. Flamed maple top, maple back and sides. My play room is REALLY getting crowded..but I don't think I'm gonna be able to resist.
