Does anyone remember Global guitars? When I was 12 or 13, My mom got me a Global SG copy for x-mas, it was cherry red, had some kind of h-bucker pickups in it, a bolt-on neck, and I was thinking about that guitar the other day, and it occured to me I've been playing pretty regularly since I got that guitar. I kinda miss it. Played it thru a HUGE Peavey bass stack, with my MXR Distortion plus, which I still have, and still works! I've had a lot of guitars since that Sears special, and if it wasn't for my mom, I probably would never have took it up. Thanx Mom!! ;D

...hey guitarzan......... ...I have a Global....it's an acoustic.........a yard sale special my wife found years ago for our girls......the most use it ever got was when the older whacked her younger sister over the head with it.......it got put away in the back of a closet......I found it a while back in it's cardboard box when the closet got cleaned out.......decided to re-string it and keep it as a display item......neck scale approx 22.25"............... i113.photobucket.com/albums/n238/hcoll/IMG_0574.jpg

wow, sears guitars..... my first p.o.s was a sears explorer, i guess about 1980. the name of this line was "effector". it had some very fake sounding active fx built right in, alot of buttons to push in & out so to speak to get the desired sound. i actually traded it for 1947 gretsch hollow body 3/4 scale that has long since been sold. airline was also another sears line of guitars. i had an acoustic but its long gone also.

;D Welcome home, noeljob. If my memory serves me correctly, Montgomery Ward used to sell Airline instruments also.

Wow thought I was the only one who liked these old girls. Recently found a Global single humbucker SG Cherry Burst Global at the flea market with a matching Global Amp, set me back $10.00 Took her home polished her up new strings and setup. Sounded almost like an old Teisco Surf Twang YEA.
