I wish it was that easy man. See if I go down to the US and buy something (anything, not just guitars) Im gonna pay the difference at the border anyhow. Im gonna have to pay taxes and duty and all the rest of it.

Hi samiksg
Out of interest, what's the best price available in Canada for a Gibbo 335, new ??
Those guys in the US are damned lucky.... The first time I went over to do joint sales calls with our agent in Boston, I couldn't believe the amount of Fenders and Gibsons he and his mates had, considering I mean that they are of a similar standard to me, gigging in local bars, clubs etc, hardly professionals. When we had a look around the malls I could see why !!! The stuff (especially Fenders) were so cheap.
Like you though, a few calculations on UK import customs duty and VAT (UK Sales tax @ 17.5% !!) took it right up.
I reckon that's why in the UK, most semi-serious guitarists aspire to owning a piece of prestige instrument, having the learn the hard way on bargain basement gear, having said that, a friend of mine bought his son a squier standard fat strat, it's a marvelous piece of kit, GBP 199 and almost impossible to fault !!
