The only point to this post is to maybe find others with the same problem I have. I have always been Gibson to the bone ever since I saved up and bought mine at age 16. And in being this way I have probly missed out on alot of these great guitars listed in this topic and many that are not. But wanting real Gibsons has always been so deeply rooted in my mind, that I have been able to spot a copy from a mile away. It never seems to matter to me how nice of a copy it is. Just the fact that it is a copy makes me turn my nose up at it. But haveing such a champagne taste on a beer budget has kept me from owning but one Gibson. I guess thats why I am such a big Epiphone fan, it is as close to Gibson as you can get without really owning a Gibson. Don't get me wrong I like other brands for what they are, but for me if it looks like a Gibson it better damn well be a Gibson or Epi or I don't want it. I know this makes me a snob, but I can't help it. They should come with warning stickers on them.
::WARNING playing Gibson Guitars may prove habbit forming and may also cause you to loose sleep. May also cause finger blisters, sore back and hand cramps.::
It's almost like I am addicted to Gibsons. Well admiting you have a problem is the first step, so.
Hello. My name is Zac. And I am a Gibson addict.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. When I first started playing back in 1976, I went through a few copies. Then in 1978 I saved up to buy my first Gibson, a Les Paul Special at the age of 16. I still have it today. I will never get rid of it. I have had a few more copies over the years. I even bought a new Gibson SG Standard in 1979. But I traded it in for an Ibanez Destroyer back in my "Metal Band" years. God, how I've regretted it ever since. That's what attracted me to Epiphones. Having a House and Wife and Kids now, there was no way I could justify buying another Gibson. Epi's give me that feeling that I could own other "Gibsons." When I got back into guitars about 8 years ago I discovered the Epi G-400. WOW! I could "get back" my SG without skipping a mortgage payment!!! Since then I bought an Epi Les Paul Standard and a Epi Les Paul Junior. I have to admit, in my mind I'm playing a Gibson, but I realize it's not. BUT I will not buy another brand of Gibson copy. It's Epi's or nothing. One day I'll get enough reserve cash to buy the guitar of my dreams. A Gibson Les Paul Custom. But until then, maybe I can justify the Epi Custom I saw hanging in Guitar Center recently. I saw it and have not stopped thinking about it and am actively trying to come up with the cash for it. Maybe this Christmas....................
There I got it off my chest too. It's almost like therapy.
Take care.

Thanks ExCaptain for the post. I was starting to think I was the only one. Our stories are very much alike. I started about 4 years after you did and bought a Gibson S1 Marauder 4 years later, that I will always have, but other than that its the same story. My best bud Noel bought a Vintage G 400 which was his second Epi, and he likes it better than the 2 Gibson SGs he used to own. The G400 is one of Epi's best runs to be sure. I got my second Epi shortly after he got the G400 and I am still blown away by how it plays and sounds. Its the quilt top on my avatar if that was not obvious already. ;D Like me, Noel has family and bills and works hard for the money he has, and can't afford any more Gibson Guitars right now. But we both agree that if we won the lotto we would never git rid of the Epis we own and would buy 2 Epiphones for every Gibson we bougt. As far as dream guitars, I guess mine would be a white Gibson LP custom with black binding and 3 pickups, like Randy Rhoads used to play, rest his soul. But then again I dream alot. Thanks Zac

I know I posted earlier in this thread that I am a Gibson snob, but I have to admit I have seen all this talk about those Agiles lately and I have been checking out their site at Rondo Music. I still feel the same way but I saw those Blue Flamed "Les Paul copies" both the single and double cut. Oh Boy!!!! (I know that Gibson made them change their styles a little.) I can't get those blue ones out of my mind. I am fighting my finger that wants to hit the "purchase" on that site. WHAT DO I DO? They're so CHEAP!! Please help me !!!!! HaHaHaHa!!!

I think the minute they start to sell a blue quilt top "Les Paul" on the Rondo site I am going to have to resign myself from the "Gibson Snob" Club!!!!!

Sure is pretty. Wow, what a low price. But that cut away just kills it for me. It's my problem and I have to live with it. I would say that blue quilt Agile would be a great giutar for anyone else but me. {{walks back into the day room of the Gibson snob treatment center and plays ping pong}} ;D Zac

I'm a little late to the support group meeting but better late than never. OK, I guess I'll have to fess up and admit I'm a bit of a Gibby snob too. I don't know if I could spot a copy a mile away but when I do see that it's a copy I feel a little let down. Even with the DOT I just picked up, sure, I'd much rather have an ES-335 and will probably someday own one even though the DOT is essentially the same guitar. Funny thing is today when my son was with me at a local music shop and asked if he could try a 3/4 size squire Strat I actually felt a little bummed out that he didn't ask about a Paul like dad has.
