Wooohoo, yesterday I watched an old Saxon live video from 1988, and both guitarist played Fernandes guitars, I remember one of my former band mates also had a Fernandes Les Paul, amazing guitar... Fernandes never had a proper distribution here in Germany for a longer period, so these really awesome guitars are very unknown over here, and totally underrated. In my believe they were probably the best japanese built guitars ever... Coming to the Saxon guitars, I saw a beautyful white SG, totally traditional, with open coil humbuckers but sharkfin inlays, yummm... the other guitarist had an Explorer (maybe korina or winered) with a Kahler vibrato, and the top of this guitar was totally covered with fragments of mirrorglass put together, it looked just beautyful. By the way, Fernandes also manufactured power strat style guitars and Jackson RR copies. Anyone of you came across a Fernandes? Maybe check Ebay for Fernandes guitars, sometimes they are sold for a price that is not so low... remember those guitars were quality made and were able to beat even the highly respected Tokai guitars. I was bidding on a Fernandes Gold Top recently but unfortunately lost the auction, the guitar did sell for about 450 Euros (about 520 $, or so)...

Ahhh Fernandes, over here they make the Nomad. Comes built in with a 5 watt amp, effects processor, and a bridge humbucker. Pretty neat guitar

One of my buddies is sponsored by Fernandes, they gave him an awesome custom $1500 fretless (mirrored fingerboard) with EMGs and all sorts of cool bells and whistles. The thing plays great and sounds absolutely incredible (particularly when he plays it), so I actually looked into them the last time I pretended I had money and went guitar window shopping.

Anyone have any experiences with the Fernandes Sustainer pickup? My friend had one put in his Epi LP guitar, and it is awesome! Hit a string, and it sustains FOREVER or until the battery runs out!

Over here, you can get the Fernandes LP under the Burny name. There's the 45, 55 and 65 of which both the 55 and 65 have the sustainer. The sales guy at the shop demoed the sustainer for me and it was incredible. It seems endless. The downside (at least, for me) is that you need a separate battery for the sustainer.
BTW, the Burny LPs are now made in China instead of Japan. I suppose they are reserving the really high end stuff for the MIJ tag.

By the way, the Fernandes or better "Burny" Les Pauls, SGs and Explorers (I saw the Burny Logo in a catalogue of Fernandes once) are seemingly only for the asian market and no more for Europe...

I had a Fernandes FR55, and it was one of the better guitars I've owned. I preferred it to the Kramer Focus 3000 I had at the same time. Like most I've had, it got sold, but yeh, they are real nice guitars. Definately better than the Fender Strat I also had.
