For what ever reason, I think that the majority of Gibson LP double cuts are ulgy but PRS guitars just look awesome for whatever reason. What do you guys think?

ZEP! Look at the beautyful Gibson Spirit DC in our rare/vintage gallery, I had a Spirit once... I could still blame me for selling it...

You REALLY don't want my opinion of PRSi. ;D Nah, go for it CA, I've never actually played one, so its all conjecture. ...and yes, the Gibson Spirit is cool, but Gibson doesn't make DCs that compare with...say the LP Supreme or Custom. At least I haven't seen them.

I voted PRS. Reason being I guess they look slimmer than the gibbys. I would love to have either one but for astetic reasons I choose PRS.

OK, well here goes:
I bought a Left-Handed PRS McCarty, cost out the door was $2,200.00. The guitar was well made with decent parts, however it did not feel right to me. Then it was found out that Paul Reed Smith had decided to stop making left-handed guitars because he was losing money on them, you could still order a private stock at a starting cost of $5,000.00! Meanwhile I bought a Schecter C-1 E/A which is somewhat like the PRS hollowbody models, the Schecter was less than $1,000.00 and plays like a million. I decided to sell the PRS and got $1,000 for it. I was fed up with Paul Reed Smith's attitude about lefties and money. I will not support someone who does support me or my interests.
To make a long story short, in my opinion PRS guitars are overpriced pieces of crap made by someone who does not care about players but just wants to make a dollar!!!!!

I voted Gibson. Gibson double cuts are just so much more classy, and they look so nice. Im not a big fan of PRS anyway. Besides, PRS got sued by Gibson for copying the Les Paul design

I voted Gibson. ;D PRS guitars are totally overpriced, well okay a Gibson Les Paul is also overpriced, but at least it is a Gibson... I was never a fan of the PRS guitars in no way, don´t like the design and I wonder why they must have another scale length, a mix between Fender - and Gibson - type scale...? No, my friends, if I will ever spend money on an expensive guitar again, I´d go for Gibson or Hamer. BY the way, the Hamer Standard is a bold copy of a Les Paul DC designwise...

Point taken, no guitar company should stop making lefties. For $2000 there's plenty of other good stuff (Like Gibson LP Standards) but then it will be a very long time before I spend that much on a guitar. ...overpriced, but I still like how they look, although it is a Gibson ripoff.

one of my ultimate dream gitfiddles is a LP doublecut Goldtop.
PRS--I used to like them, and then I made the mistake of perusing Ed Roman's website for about 3 hours straight.
Anyway, I own one of those rare Dillion "lawsuit" PRS copies with the birds-in-flight and everything. That's enough PRS for me. even though it sits in the case most of the time.

Hey Zep...I may be in the minority but I have always liked the looks of the Gibby DC guitars, especially the earlier models. Have you seen the pic of ExCaptains DC in Gallery1? Very nice looking instrument. As for PRS, never played one and probably never will, too darn expensive for some wood and hardware. Of course Gibsons are not bargain priced either but there is something about a Gibby, especially an older one, that I cannot explain, maybe something to do with the history, definitely something to do with the tone! Except for my Martin D18, I have never been able to afford expensive guitars but if I could I would look for an older Gibson DC to buy. However, I am happy with my 2 Epis right now...would like a Tele though.

I voted Gibson, because I like the look of the LP double cutaway. Kind of reminds me of a PRS Santana model.
I used to own a PRS Santana SE, and I liked that guitar, except for that huge neck heel. Ed Roman calls it the "heel from hell". I heard somewhere that PRS is planning to improve the heel and cut it down.

To make a long story short, in my opinion PRS guitars are overpriced pieces of crap made by someone who does not care about players but just wants to make a dollar!!!!! Overpriced? Definatly! Don't care about the players just want the money? Now days,,,probably. But piece of crap? In my opinion,,, no. I have had the oppertunity to play more than a handfull of PRS guitars. The earlier ones all seemed to have a personality uinque to each guitar. I never played an earlier run that I didn't like. Now days they don't seem to be all that unique but still very nice guitars. I will always be Gibson to the bone, but even I have to give PRS credit. Not only do I like their product, I also have to give them respect for making in roads into a market that was dominated by Gibson, Fender and very few others. I may feel dif if I were a lefty. I feel your pain and admire your passion Chet. But I can't agree with the piece of crap, slam. Just my opinion. Zac
