Way back in the mid 70's (ouch) one of my first guitars was an LP copy, I believe it was a Festival. This axes must have been made out of an old Oak tree stump. real Heavy... the neck was like a 2x4 in thickness. The tunners were always going out on it no matter what I did. Oddly it did look very close to an LP standard, but definitly not in sound....lol. The finish on it was like hardend steel, you had to hit it pretty hard in to something to do any damage to it. Ya ok it was pretty bad, but I learn I really like the LP shape .... I miss that old axes, it would be fun to play it again....lol.

Sounds alot like my old no name LP copy I used to have. It had alot of little run ins with other inanimate objects, but it never got dinged. It was a tuff old battle axe.

Two of my first guitars were a Ventura LP copy that was a blonde arch top with gold plated hardware like an LP custom. It was pretty heavy, but the arch top was hollow underneath. You could knock on it and hear that it was hollow. Later I had a white Harmony LP copy that was more like a studio model. That guitar was pretty sweet, but it was stolen... None were nearly as nice as my Epi though. I think I paid about $200 bucks each for the copies and they were both used when I bought them. I bought the blonde in about '81 and the white in about '85. Man, I think I paid way too much...

Koeppel, I also got a used Ventura Les Paul copy sometime in the early 80s (at a garage sale), but I still have it! It's currently hanging in my son's room as a decoration, because while the electronics are shot it looks cool (gold top). It's got a bolt-on neck and the action is great, even though it's been on the wall for many years now....

I wish I had enough guitars lying around that I could have one just "hanging on a wall for years."

Actually, my first guitar I ever bought was an Ibanez Firebird copy. It had a bolt-on neck and a Dimarzio SD in the bridge position. That guitar had the nicest action of any guitar I ever owned. And as old as I am, I still don't have any guitars haning on my wall.

My first copy was an old Hondo ll . It weighed a ton, or so I thought back then, didn't stay in tune very well, but I was hooked. I just got to play a 70's Ibanez Custom. It has nice PUPs, and FAT tone. I'd like to trade my Alleykat for it, but it was a gift for the owner.

My first was an Antares. Just loved it. Perfect medium-fat neck, nice frets, wine red finish, set neck. Tuners were cheap but it stayed in tune pretty well. The only problem was the electronics weren't shielded, but that would have been easy enough; gave it to my younger son who sold it to a friend who plays in a local band, so it gets more use than I was giving it.

My first LP copy when I was a teen was a Harmony sunburst bolt on. Chrome covered pickups. The neck pickup was mounted away from the end of the neck. I saw it in a JC Penny Christmas catalog, advertised as a "double pickup lead guitar, with premium chrome frets and an adjustable neck". This was in 1982 I think.
Hondo II.....one of my neighbors had a Hondo LP copy in tobacco sunburst, played it thru a Fender Twin Reverb
My second copy purchase was a no name SG copy, with an imitation Bigsby vibrato unit on it. I liked it because it looked just like Angus Young's. Never stayed in tune even though I stayed away from the vibrato. I ended up using it as an EVH-like Frankenstein project.
