A little update about the little amp that could. Seeing as how most of us can`t leave well enough alone, I went ahead and modded my new Valve Junior combo. Added a much needed standby switch, a bright switch (think Fender Twin ), and a gain boost. Purchased the whole setup as a V-Mods kit (Basic) on Ebay for $24.99 with FREE shipping. It took three weeks to get the kit and about an hour and a half for the install. I think I did okay for my first amp mod ever. What a tremendous difference over what was already a great little amp. The standby is a necessary mod as there`s not one installed at the factory, and I can`t afford new tubes, or worse, every week. The bright channel really wakes that little 8" speaker up. I can`t believe how clean the signal is, even at full volume. (Apartment life does have a few advantages. There are times when everyone has to go off to work, and the Mrs. has to head out to shop. He-he-he!) The gain channel gives a huge boost to my Blues Driver. So much so, I might leave the stock pups in the Dot. Or not. Maybe a set of SH-59s..............

Cool Jimboe, sounds like you got your self a sweet little amp now. Did you take any pic's while you were doing the mods?

RB, I`m sorry to say the thought never crossed my busy little mind until you asked. Everything is done from the top of the board. I only had to solder 4 connections at 2 of the resistors. The standby is a simple plug-in. Remove a wire, plug it into the lead from the new switch and plug in the other lead from the switch where the first wire was. Drill 3 holes in the face plate for the new switches, install them , then place the decals that come with the kit. I used a $2.95 soldering pencil (30W) and about $.10 worth of solder. Here`s a pic of the before-after. i59.photobucket.com/albums/g287/1jimbo_52/PhotobucketcamparisonEVJ.pngJim

Yeah, I understand that you can do it that way, and I have my pics hosted in a few places. I could do it that way. However, I see folks post pics directly, without a link. That's what I want to do. I post pics directly on several other forums. BB in SC

Anyone have the picture posting answer for billinsc? I wasn`t aware we could post directly to a thread. How about a how-to. Thanks. Jim We used to do this all the time, Jim. Our fearless leader would complain when we put in too many pics, or very large ones. As I remember, when you're posting your text just look in the Add Tags buttons section for the Insert Image one. Click on it, and the associated img command (within pairs of open and closed brackets) will get placed in your Message area. Then, between the "img" in brackets and the "/img" in brackets, type-in the URL for where your image is hosted -- and that should include your image in the post rather than a link to it. I don't have any hosted that I can test with, but things should be that easy.
