Oh boy... recently I emailed service@gibson.com because I wanted to know something about the serial number of my both Epi LP Studios. I gave the full serial number, but they replied they couldn´t find it and information about serial numbers would be kept confidential anyway. I should email a photograph of the guitar. Well, the answer now is that my guitar is either a Standard or a variation of a Studio... great information, lol ;D ...and still they can´t find the serial number... I must be the 0,1 % out of 100 %. For 99,9 % they can find serial numbers. Aha! Hmmm...

lol thats pretty weird - and surprising yeah...I gotta agree on that one. I guess that's one good thing about having a recently made guitar - you can find everything about it easily enough.

Hehe, Zep... am I wrong or is there some irony in your post? Well, both my LP Studios must be actually recently made, lol... they are not vintage Epiphones, both guitars have alike serial number beginning with B21XXXXXX. Where the I, U, S, DW and BW guitars are made is known to us, but there are lots of different codes you come across and I never found any satisfying information. Maybe there´s thruth in the rumor that a part of the Epiphone production comes actually from eastern Europe (Poland and Czech Republic) but Gibson wants to keep this confidential... hmmm, don´t know. By the way, both my Epi LP Studios are absolutely flawless and very good. Precise fretwork, decent pots, reliable toggles, very heavyweighted and have tone, tone, tone... The only thing I want to know, you know everyone of us is curious, where and when were they manufactured actually.

I´ve been checking in some forums and it seems like all the guitars with a B in the serial are czeck made.Seems like their only available in europe.I have an Epi LP heritage that i bought at Musikborsen in sweden and they said it was czeck made and had schaller hardware. But these are not facts, just things i picked up while playing detective in the forums

Aha! This is what I wanted to hear... it came also to my mind that those "obviously" czech made ones are only available in Europe. But still there is no evidence and still the odd serial numbers can´t be riddled concerning date of manufacture. By the way, WELCOME ABOARD, Fjongben!

I still find it funny that no one is able to come up with a complete list of all the places of manufacture. It seems like when you buy a guitar you should at least be able to find out when and where it was made.

Well, it would be interesting to know, but what the heck, does it matter THAT much? *sigh* Hehe, at least the guitars (both of my Epi LP Studios) sound like they should, are absolutely well made, thick, flawless and weigh like steel... or better lead. ;D

Thanks steelpriest, good to be heere .Iguess it really doesnt matter where the guitar is made as long as your happy with it.But i really do think that the good people at epiphone should know where their instruments are made and with what hardware. Ps.Sorry about the blank post I removed the blank post, I guess this option should be available for "ordinary" registered users as well... (to remove own posts) I´m not sure about it though...
