Is "Hyundai" a good/safe car brand for a teen look

I was recently looking on Hyundai's website and I really like some of their vehicles, however I don't know that much about Hyundai compared to some other brands. Do their cars achieve high levels of safety, especially for someone new to driving? Is their a particular Hyundai car you would recommend? (The Elantra looks nice)
