The most important think to keep in mind are your guests. If the majority of your guests are traveling (and will not be staying over), or have young children, the earlier, the better. Between 3-4 would be a good time for dinner so they can get back on the road before it gets too late, and the little ones won't be pitching fits because their tired. If the majority of your guests are adults/older children, live in Time town/will stay overnight, then it will be easier on yourself to have dinner at a more normal time (5-6). In either case, you want to invite them over at least 2 hours before dinner with enough time for the majority to stay about 2 hours after dinner visiting. A huge part of Thanksgiving is about being with family and friends, so you definitely want time to visit with each other.
