I have signed up for a broadband service with a fairly small local company who use wireless transmitters instead of a landline ADSL connection (due to slow speed in my area). I have signed a contract and had the equipment installed but am receiving a very poor service (exteremly slow connection, high latency and drop outs etc). I have been told I wont be charged anything until the connection is right, but I'm getting increasingly worried that they will just start billing me and I will have to put up with their terrible service for 24 months. The paperwork I was told to download and return had no mention of the Distance Selling Regulations and my right to cancel, neither was I told about this over the phone. However their online terms and conditions do mention it. Could this be a way to escape the contract, by claiming I was not properly informed of my right to cancel? Also their engineer has installed a small satellite dish above my chimney breast in order to obtain a good enough signal. I have since spoke to the council planning department who inform me such an installation would require planning permission. Should the engineer have notified me of this? I'm just trying to think of any way I could get out of paying £855 in contract fees for something that is next to useless. Any advice? _________ home service contracts sutton| plumbing cheam
