I went to guitar center today early this morning to finally get me epiphone les paul standard plus. I was going to order a heritage cherry sunburst one, because there wasn't one at any guitar store in la county. GC said they would let me use one of the lp st + they had until the one I ordered came in. So I walk and what do I see to my amazement??? A lp st + in Heritage cherry sitting right on the floor. It looked awsome. So I found the guy I had talked to on the phone and he brought out the one he told me he would let me use untill my order came in. I asked what about this one? He said you interested in this one? I said "Hell yes!" He said I could get this one if I wanted. So he said to hook it up and play a bit to see if I like it. I hooked it up to a 60watt marshal and didn't look at the settings and strung the 5 string. GOT DAMN!!! So lound the whole store just stopped. I quickly turned everything down to proper settings and palyed a little bit. I was just loving it. So I told the guy I would take it. He said he could give me a deal on it being an open box and all. So he take me to get some accessories. I grab a fender amp, two sets of gibson sig .10-.49 strings, a bag of dunlop medium picsk, a cable, a guitar strap, a book and dvd on learning to play, a digital tuner, and a stand. This guy was not lying when he said he would give me a deal. He was just slashing prices left and right. The total for everything came up to $780. I was friggin shocked!!! So my cousing gets out his platinum card to pay for it(Cause he is buying it for me as an early birthday/christmas present). They scan the card and then gues what happends??? DECLINED!!! I almost lost it. So they try again and it still doesn't work. So he the sales man says we should try paying part in cash and part on the card. So we run across the street to the mall and get $300 out of the atm then run back to GC. So the sales man tries to charge part of it to the card and it still says declined. So after everything I couldn't get the guitar. So sad. Well the sales man said he would try to hold everything for me till tomorrow. So hopfully today( its past midnight) everything will still be there and I can finally get my guitar that I've been asking for, for the last 14 years. Wish me luck guys.

Oh boy, what a story... that reminds me of wanting and being willing to buy a guitar a couple of years ago... I had chosen a black Epi Custom, two DiMarzio humbuckers, had the guys in the store install them, give the guitar a set up and then went to the cashier... guess what, my card was also declined... I totally forgot it was the beginning of a month, in fact the beginning of april, and my car insurance and some other things that are paid each quarter year were debited directly from my bank account... I did assume to have at least 1500 DM (Deutsch Marks) available on my bank account, but in fact the insurance companies, etc. debited already and I had only hardly 500 DM leftover... lol, well I had to admit to have run out of money surprisingly . The guys in the store were pretty angry, because they already modified this guitar to my wishes... It took me some time to soothen them, lol... Well, they knew me, I was a long time customer at this shop, so they said it was o.k., ... but you can imagine how embarrassed I felt... I was really ashamed...

It looks real nice! Les Paul always work. But I have to ask you a question. Did you have hard sleeping that night? I had been saving for a goldtop for so long that I could hardly sleep. It was really making me suffer cause I knew I was close but not close enough. When I finally had the money I had to tell the man in the music store to order one. Now it shouldn't be long till I got it I thought(more sleeping problems). And then one day I was helping a friend setting up his internet directly after school. When I finally got home my parents told me that the guitar had arrived and that the store had closed now so I was to late. I had to wait another day, and guess what, I couldn't sleep that night either. Does everybody do this when they really want something?

Absolutely an awsome guitar. I had a great first guitar, but it was great because it played well.(Gretsch Corvette) It was my dad's and he passed it down to me. It was not what I wanted at the time. (Gibson SG) But I learned to play on it and now love the ol'girl. You on the other hand have been blessed with a brand new, beautiful, quality guitar. I have had a number of guitars since I started playing at 12 yrs old. But I was 33 before I got my first brand new guitar. You have been given something that took me over 21 years to aquire. Keep that in mind as you are learning to play and the going gets hard, just hang in there and keep on picking. You have been given a great head start.
p.s. That Fender 15 is what I am planning on getting my son for his birthday this april. Its a great little practise amp. He got his first guitar this past Christmas at age 5. (mini strat)
Rock on! Zac

well did you run amuck or buy it? ;D thats a sweet axe bro.my first amp was a fender sidekick 10, in which it fell one day and i broke the bass knob off of it. boy that sure pissed me off. luckily it broke off just about where i liked it at the time. keep up the good work and stick with it. you will succeed.

Ok I have a request to any other board member who has a les paul standard plus. Could you possible post pics of the paper work that came in the box? I didn't get any paper work with mine because it was an open box. Man tuning this guitar is proving to be troublesome. I have a digital tuner where I plug in to it and strum and adjust till it get the right pitch, but most of the time when the right pitch it achieved the strings seem to be too loose. Am I doing something wrong?

Am I doing something wrong? Well tune one string at a time. From big E down. Then repeat as needed. If the strings seem too loose you may want to go to a bigger gauge. When Noel and I got our epis new out of the box they had 9s on them. So it stands to reason you have 9s on yours too. Try 10s and tell me what you think.
