I came across the same news that Epiphone will discontinue the Elitist line from an Ibanze forum about the closing down of the guitar division at Fuji Gen. They are moving operations to Korea.
Can't confirm though.

When i asked about this, i got mostly blank stares. If it is true then most likely we would not hear it from the management. So i can't really confirm or deny, but i'll keep asking around.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the Elitest line, as there are several top notch manufacturers in Japan that can more than compete, quality wise, with Fuji Gen-Gakki. These would include Terada and Matsamoku(?sp). If Gibson decides to retain the Japanese built Elitests, I am sure that they can obtain the services of one of the many builders available.
