Well, today I had the chance to check out a small Marshall MG15 CD. One of the meanwhile most popular practise amps. What surprised me is the volume this little box is able to deliver, especially the clean sound convinced me keeping in mind the price of the amp. The overdrive/distortion channel is very nice for practising at home at low volume levels. When you crank up the volume the sound becomes very harsh and isn´t convincing me much. The amp has lots of gain, but unfortunately does not react very much on your picking dynamic. Hardly a difference if you strum the strings gently or if you pick really heavy, a slight bummer. But for practising it is very okay. The FDD switch is horrible IMO, the sound gets compressed even more and loses the rest of his dynamic. I would rate this amp 7 out of 10 points.

I agree with you about the FDD switch- I have the same amp and I never have the FDD switch on...the tone is much better without it

I have the MG15 CDR Model. Interesting comments about the FDD switch, as I always have left it on. I will have to play a bit without it and check it out. I have found this to be a very good practice amp.Very dependable, with the Big Marshall sound that is an obvious plus at this price point.
