its like a prs, heard their was a law suit over it.made in korea around 1988.Epiphone logo plus gibson in a diamond on the headstock. mahogany body with the thickest maple top ive ever seen.EMG select pickups, coil tap plus custom reverse phaze, stienberger trem and locking nut. Ive had mine for about 10 years and it plays like a dream. I want to pick up a couple more but cant get jip on them.anyone know why epi and gibsom are keeping mum about them?Ive got a few high end guitars but the spotlight is number one.Even though i paid about 300 bucks for it.

I think they were just the fad of the times. There have been so many short-run guitar models that Epiphone did over the years.

good luck. Ive been tring for years. You get them now and then on e-bay but mainly the cheaper versions with the standard trem.go for about 350 dollars. Totally under rated guitar.Im trying to find out how many were made and what options there were.Mine is customised to the hilt.but I bought it second hand years ago. will try to send a photo later.Ive got a great update for the pick up system if anyone be interested.

Nice guitars, I like especially the one with the neck-thru, if it is indeed a neck-thru... (at least it looks as if), but after all they are seemingly PRS copies and maybe not so far away and different from my ARIA PRO II PRS copy. But it is really amazing how many short run series Epiphone had from time to time. In any case I´ll keep my eyes open, not knowing if any of those guitars were originally available here in Germany.

All of the spotlight series were thru-neck. I got the aria too, before the spotlight, because I wanted something like a PRS, the spotlight is much better though, especialy the tuning and sound. They are real heavy beasts though. Made in korea, but excelent quality craftsmanship for the time. The thru- neck is essentialy one piece with a small cap added on the headstock. Sustain city. I picked mine up in th UK, and I think I remember seeing some at a namm show in about 1988 if my memory serves me well. I wanna pick up another two as spares if anyone wants to part with one. ;D The del ray series came out a little later I think, put they werent a patch on the spotlight. I've got one at home, but its never been used.A little lame.
