Is there a standard kit that's available for upgrades to the pots, switches and harness etc. - for the dot and casino? It would be so much easier to just a kit and have done with it, instead of changing out one maybe two at a time, also I've been hearing alot about the caps, if ones available are they included or is it better to just buy seperatle? Thanks, Jim

If you buy active EMG pickups (i.e. the 81 and 85, etc.), you can get them in a set with the whole deal. However, EMGs and dots are generally not mixed (not that it couldn't happen) and I'm not sure of any others that offer it. You could, if you want, just order the whole deal at www.stewmac.com (probably go elsewhere for the pickups) if you knew everything you'd need, but for the most part, I'd say you'd be okay just playing it, maybe change the pickups if they weren't up to muster and the switch if it craps out, but as a whole, the stock electronics aren't bad. Here's my list of stuff to get a Dot if you want to do the whole thing (my personal taste taken into account) Two Duncan SH1 59 pickups Four 500K pots, though I might experiment with 250K Two mid value capacitors switchcraft switch high quality oxygen free wire That should do you, unless you wanted to try active electronics... the only problem is that working on Dots is reputed to be a pain. Ok, I lied, www.stewmac.com sells entire electronics upgrade kits along with a few other dealers (surprisingly more expensive). I'd look into picking up different caps than offered though, as the ceramic discs are purported to be a bit noisy (though I could be wrong on this... anyone with experience?). Check around on google, you might get lucky! Ty
