this is my first post, so hello to all. i've been lurking a bit and this seems like a very friendly and helpful site.
my question for the electrical gurus out there. my ej-160e (lennon) model with the (i think a p-100 p/u) has a black wire hanging loose, with the other end connected at the volume/tone pots. my guess was that it should be grounded at the endpin jack.
as for the other wires if it helps (all are connected fine) the braided wire goes from the pick-up to the pots. a yellow wire from the pots to the end pin jack. and a green wire bridges the two pots , leaving the mystery black wire going from the pots to one of the ladder braces and occasionally out the soundhole and up into my G chord !
thanks in advance, any insight would be truly appreciated. Brad

Brad/fab4ever,
Welcome to the board! I had a Lennon acoustic/electric like that for a short while -- great sounding as an acoustic, but I could never get rid of its humming when using the pickup (which is what I got it for) so I reluctantly sent it back. Hopefully, your mystery loose wire isn't causing you the same problem.
I know this is of no immediate help, but I'm hoping one of our other members will jump in here....

Ol Geezer. thanks for the reply. i haven't had any terrible humming , but i should have mentioned that the tone knob does not appear to work as a result.
i mostly play it acoustically so it's not a major deal, but of course i need to get it fixed.
thanks again for taking the time.

Hmmm... well, then, my expert diagnosis is that the problem has to do with the tone control.... Seriously, that model is a great guitar to sit around and play -- they really sound great in a room! By the way, besides your gear login name I see you're using a John Lennon quote... did you notice my natural Casino?

... did you notice my natural Casino? oh, believe me i noticed, however my jealousy prevented me from commenting. guess i'm just a "jealous guy". j/k. seriously though, very nice. may i assume you are enjoying it. i have on my to do list picking up a casino as well. just have to decide on natural or sunburst , beautiful guitars. thanks for the expert opinion. i may have to bite the bullet and take her in to a pro. just seems a shame for a loose wire. on a side note, hope you had a safe, enjoyable turkey day, and thanks again for chatting. - Brad

well, it really shouldn't be a big deal. but i don't know about these things, so sorry i can't help you... it cool. thanks for caring. i'm tempted to just try a couple connections. seems like i couldn't mess up anything horibly. it's a fun guitar acoustically, so i'm not going to panic. if i ever got good enough to record anything i'd want to mike it anyway probably. ps ; good qoute in your sig. makes me inclined to say , "that's alright i've still got my guitar... look out" thanks again - Brad

Hey fab4ever, wecome to the forum. When I started this tagline Jimi quote, I didn`t realize JoMan was going to continue "Red House" with his tag. So join in already. We had talked about maybe everyone taking part to complete the tune. It`s all good. Jim
