Hi everyone. I'm so happy about the transaction I made recently. I saw someone selling on eBay some "Gibson pickups taken from a Gibson Gothic Explorer." Well I checked the Gibson website and discovered that the Goth Explorer came with the 496R and 500T, just like the LP Classic. The seller also said they were a little rough but work okay. So I figured that the worst I do is put covers on them.
I got them today and WOW! Beat up a little but they cleaned up real well. So much that I used them uncovered in my Epi LP that's my avatar picture. I've wanted a 500T for the bridge but they all went really high on ebay and such. I think I got a steal because of the way he advertised them. I won both for $38.00 + shipping. I think I did pretty good. And by the way, they sound just like I wanted them too. I think I lucked out.
Take care.
John

Sound great. Can you put covers on open coils? I don't know much about HB pickups..

Sound great. Can you put covers on open coils? I don't know much about HB pickups.. Putting covers on Pickups designed to be open coils would mask the tone, they would lose clarity and seem a little muddy.

That's an amazing deal for Gibby pickups, I've thought about changing mine, but the thought of spending somewhere around $150-200 has halted my plans for now.
