I believe the shape is the same, but I think there are a different amount of screwholes and some are in different places.

flyv:
CAFeathers is correct. The USA Strats have an 8-hole pattern (and are consistent in their location), while the MIM ones have an 11-hole pattern (and are somewhat inconsistent).
I've been wanting to put a pearloid on my black MIM Strat for a while...just haven't done it yet.
Two places to check out (sorry, no url handy) on line:
Pickguard Heaven-good selection, but expensive. Warmouth Guitar Products-very helpful-customer support tipped me off to the MIM hole inconsistency.
Let everyone know if you go for it.
Hope this helps!

I've replaced a few strat pickguards in my time on my MIM Strat, anyway I found that almost everytime I changed a pickguard, I have had to drill at least 3-4 holes because the placement was off. Even the ones advertised that they fit MIM Strats still had to have at least 1 hole moved.
Hope this helps.
