Hi Everyone!
I just had to tell everyone about the "new" LP I scored yesterday at Sam Ash. I was returning from the cemetery to visit my father and was feeling pretty depressed when I decided to pick up my mood by stopping at Sam Ash to check out what new gear came in for Christmas. While walking down the aisle I noticed an Epi Les Paul Standard in Quilt dark cherry. I noticed that it had the "Limited Edition" marking on back and that it had black hardware and no pickguard. I also saw that it was in BAD shape. Two tuning pegs were missing the keystone knobs (just the shafts sticking out) and 3 of the control pots just spun and had cracked knobs. The switch was loose and was missing the black tip. I also noticed that the finish on front was in almost perfect condition just very dirty. The back had two small dings by the control cavity cover. To myself I said that this is very fixable! But when the sales manager came over he asked if I wanted to plug it in to check it out. I told him of all the problems and that it's not really playable (I laid it on thick!) He looked at it with surprise and asked where I got it from. I pointed out where it was hanging and he was surprised it was for sale. I asked him the price and he had no idea what to say. He gave it a quick look and said if I wanted to take it off his hands I could have it for $150.00!!!! Needless to say I jumped on it. I got it home and took it apart and rebuilt it from the ground up with new parts I had laying around in my parts boxes and WOW it looks like a new guitar (all the electronics worked fine, just tightened them up and the pickups worked great.) I can't believe the score I made with this one. A $500.00 guitar for $150.00!! You think I did good? As soon as I have the time I'll send a picture into the gallery.
