Do you use the FX returns on a mixing console or do you route the signals that come back from the FX devices to main channels? I like to do it this way because you can use the EQ and FX send again on that signal and also can route it again to another effect, for example the delay signal from the lead vocals again to reverb. Otherwise the delay sound would be totally dry without any reverb. I also noticed that the returning FX signals really require equalisation sometimes, especially when you use affordable FX devices... The only thing that requires a bit concentration is that when you use this method is that you don´t route an FX device output to his own input again... lol! ;D If so accidently, you have a nice loop causing an amazing feedback... ;D

It depends on the equipment I am using. We dont have much of an FX rack for our personal system yet so I just use the returns. But at work we have better stuf (we don't get to use it much) but I still use the returns. I have seen it done the other way, but have little experience doing it myself.
