I've been itching for a new acoustic for awhile now. and the main thing I wanted...was for it to be different than what I had. I'm on the road about 90% of the time and only bring a couple of guitars with me. Right now I have a jazz box and my fav LP. I left my one acoustic at home. I've wanted a rosewood guitar for a long time, but for traveling I've also been thinking it would be nice to have a "beater guitar". One that I don't worry so much about and that I can carry with me on the road. Also been curious about smaller than dreadnaught sized guitars. Hence the ebay purchase. I surf ebay all the time. I came across this deal

Said it was a solid top. They didn't give a model number but with the inlays i thought it might not be a base model and just might be a solid top. So I bid and won it.
Turns out to be a FT 135 Cortez. Laminate top rosewood dreadnaught. Although the body style is smaller than my other dreadnaught, a texan. (which is labeled as a jumbo...go figure) It has a bolt on neck. My japanese texan has a bolt on neck too, so i'm familiar with that. It sounds great after 30 yrs it sounds great, so I have hopes for this. The finish has bunches of dinges..but nothing is to the wood. I was wondering if there was a way to maybe strip it a little and refinish it again. I've decided I'm also going to use this guitar to learn how to set up a guitar and work on one. If I mess it up...not that much lost. The action is a little high. It has an adjustable bridge. but I've lowered it all i can. The adjustable bridge has had the screws replaced by what looks like screws that came from Home depot. I've already found a replacement for that. Customer service at Epi was fast in their response at vendors that supply for older guitars. It sounds a little dull right now, but I think thats the strings. It has some good sustain to it and the neck feels ok. I swear...there are huge clumps of dust and debris on the inside of this thing...lol...make me wonder where it was two months ago...look like in the back of some closet filling with dust. I think it came out of it ok. I feel good about the purchase.
Still gonna start saving up again for that solid rosewood dreadnaught though
